If you want to calibrate steering wheel angle sensor / reset steering wheel angle sensor on BMW 1 / 2 / 3 /5 /6 / 7 series work on X3 X5 and Z3 Z4 models, the procedure is super simple it takes just a few minutes but you have to have the right tool and I will share one of the cheapest scanners Foxwell NT650 that can do that with you.
Let's go ahead to show you what needs to be done on a 3 series BMW for example.
You may actually have the traction control light and brake light on due to a bad or not calibrated steering angle sensor. If you have done some front end work, front end alignment or anything that could cause the steering to be affected it could trigger traction control and brake light because the steering angle sensor will need to be reset / calibrated.
The vehicle needs to be on a perfectly leveled ground when we do that we have to have the ignition on.
Okay, with "OBDII" option on NT650, you can get the fault codes from the engine computer, airbag system, ABS traction control, you can register particles... so many things, it is super helpful.
I'll go down to SAS (seering angle sensor), click on enter.
Read the "introduction of the Function" first.
Back to select "Choose the vehicle".
Select BMW. You can see NT650 supports so many car brands.
Select 3 series, you can see it supports BMW 1 series, 2 series, 3 series, 4 series, 5 series, 6 series, 7 series, I series, X series, Z series.
Click ok to ensure the ignition is on. Establishing the communication with the vehicle.
Read the instruction first and click "OK" to go ahead.
Then read "Description of steering angle sensor".
Then click on "Perform steering angle calibration steering". Click "Yes" to continue. Please makes sure your steering wheel is pointing okay, perfectly leveled steering wheel not to the left or to the right a bit and on NT650 click OK.
Okay, steering angle sensor was carried out correctly.
okay everything is fine, if I go ahead and start the car now. Okay, we shouldn't have any steering angle sensor light.
