Car model and year:
2000 Ford excursion 2 valve 6.8L v10
it just was missing real bad and found all clips on fuel injectors and c.o.p broke, found 13 followers bad, 10 lifters bad. Replaced timing chain seals and seated valves, new gasket etc. Did not touch short block, new high volume oil pump. it ran just fine purred like a kitten before. Short of misses. Now I start it after all this and white smoke which was partly bad gas but that's fixed. but back fires every so often and when it starts it has to turn over and over with no apparent compression, doesn't start till battery almost drained. when it ran out of gas it backfired pretty loudly.
Ford excursion scanner to use:
scanner is saying bank 1 is rich
How to do?
The scanner saying "Bank 1 rich" is often misleading. What can happen is that the electronics detect a rich condition and attempt to lean out the cylinder in that bank. A slight leaning doesn't change the test sufficiently to look normal so the bank is leaned a bit more. This can repeat until the bank is leaned to the systems limits.
You're having trouble starting the motor and a severe leaning of the motor could explain that. So could a faulty O2 sensor.
The place to start is to connect a good scanner/analyzer to the motor and checking the O2 sensor voltage and fuel trims.

Also just behind cop 5 there is this:
Finally, no fault everything good.
It has been fixed. Though I feel like a dumb a-- I hope someone else learns from it. I found 1 injector not connected, new clips have to push harder, looked on but pulled right off. And in c.o.p connecter on bank 2 not connected as well looked on put pulled right off!!!!! Prrs like a kitten!!!!
on the current misses I would see it toggle but never weirdly signified to a individual one, Only that general count and would reset to 0 right after a miss even though it was happening all the time. On both scanner foxwell nt510 elite.
